One of the most visited places in Venice is St. Mark's Basilica. It supposedly houses the remains of St. Mark. He is also the patron Saint of Venice. His symbol of the winged lion can be found ALL over Venice. Outside the Basilica there are two lions that make great photo props.
A top the entrance to the Basilica are four metal horses. Bridget was pretty impressed by them.
It is an amazing building. The ceiling is incredible. The floors are works of art too!
The day we went outside in the plaza was a huge military event. They had all areas represented and in uniform.
Across from the church is a huge bell tower, called the Campanile.
The view from the top is incredible.
(sadly I had my camera on the wrong setting so they are pretty washed out)
After we stopped at our favorite bread store for day old bread. Love these two boys and how close they are!
